Welcome to Chestnut Street Grille!
Owned by local native Michael Walker, his wife Susan and their daughter Emily.
Michael, a 1981 Duxbury Graduate - met his wife Susan, of Ridgefield, CT at Dean College in Franklin, MA. After college they moved to the Boston metro area where they began to start a family. After two children, they realized - it was time to relocate. Which is how the family landed back in Duxbury. For the first few years Michael continued to commute to Boston - but after awhile - he realized by commuting, he was missing precious time with his family - time that one can never get back. So without further a due, Michael hung up his suit and tie, quit corporate America and purchased a local sub shop - called Benchwarmer.
Having absolutely no experience in the food industry - aside from washing dishes at the Milepost Tavern as a high school student - Michael was determined to support his family all while still be present as a father - and that is exactly what he did.
Michael and Susan's oldest daughter Emily also graduated from the Duxbury High School and went on to graduate from the University of New Haven with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. Emily was studying to take her Law School entrance exams when she was presented with the opportunity for Chestnut Street Grille. Emily brought six years of part and full time, full-service restaurant experience to the family business.
The family had long said that the only thing lacking in their wonderful town was a solid family friendly, full service restaurant. After spending years on the soccer, softball and baseball fields, Susan would say that there was no place in town to bring "muddy little people". Hence, the birth of Chestnut Street Grille.
Since the opening in 2016, all of the Walker children have participated in its success. Michael states openly that there is no denying each has played an integral role, and he is very clear that partner Emily, runs the show.
"It would be a whole different ball game with out her, not nearly as successful. That's what happens when Mom raises a type A first born girl!!" We are very lucky." - Michael
Oldest son, Garrett, has been a clutch, relief bartender before beginning his own career in the medical sales field. Kayla has been invaluable with kitchen prep and sporadic errands all while continuing to run the evening show at Benchwarmers! Sara, greets customers with her beautiful smile and youngest son Trent, rules the kitchen with his wit, contributing however the chefs see fit.
Now that you know a little bit about us - come check out our hard work that we have put together here at the Chestnut Street Grille!
See you soon!
